Malaysian Art since the 1990s

Galeri Petronas is organising a panel discussion relating to a recent publication by Sarena Adbullah, entitled Malaysian Art since the 1990s: Postmodern Situation.

Panelists include Beverly Yong, Dr. Sharmiza Abu Hassan and Badrolhisham M. Tahir. The panel will be moderated by Nur Hanim Mohamed Khairudin.

Among topics covered in the discussion will be;

• Meanigns of Malaysian modern and postmodern art
• Understanding of social and political conditions that shape the emerging middle class in Malaysia
• The shift from Malay/Islamic-centric artistic tendencies to a more postmodern outlook in artworks by Malaysian artists
