In the press release, Sisters in Islam executive director Rozana Isa is quoted as saying, "While many people out there try to use Islam in order to justify the silencing of women, the crux of the work that we do at SIS is to prove that Islam actually liberates, breaks the chains of oppression and in fact frees women from injustices."
Commenting on the exhibition, Rozana adds, "It is exciting to see the grey areas of societal constructs expressed so thought-provokingly by such talented Malaysian artists.”
The sales of the exhibition are in support of the Sisters in Islam organisation.
The opening reception is on Nov 1 at 7pm.
