EDUCATION

1971 | Australian National University, Canberra

  • A self-taught Batik painter who grew up among artists who practised oil, watercolour, Chinese ink and Batik painting
  • After his secondary education at Chung Ling High School he was forced to work as a rubber-tapper to supplement his family’s meagre income
  • He became one of the first artists in the world to have a Batik painting accepted for auction by an international auction house such as Christie’s in 1994
