• Worked at Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka (DBP) doing illustrations and book designs before moving on to the MARA Handicraft Development Centre as a Textile Designer
• Became Art Director at Johan Design Associates before setting up his own Ismail & Associates and becoming its Creative Director
