The Edge Auction 2017

Over 100 lots of Southeast Asian artworks especially Malaysian paintings will be on the block at The Edge Auction 2017 to be held at the main ballroom of Hilton Kuala Lumpur from 1pm on March 5.

Highlights of the fifth annual sale include a painting from Latiff Mohidin’s Lahar III (2000, oil on canvas, 90cm by 90cm) and Datuk Ibrahim Hussein’s About the Andaman (1999, oil on canvas, 69cm by 86.5cm) as well as Yusof Ghani’s Siri Tari XIII (1990, oil on canvas, 120cm by 120cm) and Datuk Sharifah Fatimah Zubir’s Solitary Dream (2015, mixed media, 100cm by 120cm).

There are many other significant works by leading names in Malaysian art including Jolly Koh, Awang Damit, Khalil Ibrahim, Zulkifli Yusoff, Jalaini Abu Hassan, Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Tajuddin Ismail, Ahmad Shukri Mohamed, Bayu Utomo, Chong Siew Ying, Kow Leong Kiang and Shia Yih Yiing.

Other artists represented in the auction include Khoo Sui Hoe, Eng Tay, Lee Long Looi, Lee Joo For, Tew Nai Tong, Anthonie Chong, Peter Liew, Yong Look Lam, Loo Hooi Nam, Choo Beng Teong and Chong Ai Lei.

Works of pioneer and early artists in Malaysia include that of Lee Cheng Yong, Kuo Ju Ping, Chia Yu Chian, Datuk Tay Hooi Keat and Tan Choon Ghee.

In the field of batik art, choice works by Datuk Chuah Thean Teng, Datuk Tay Mo Leong and Toya will be offered.

Paintings by artists in Indonesia include the works of Heri Dono. Josephine Linggar, John Van der Sterren, Agus Baqul Purnomo, Suharyo Saman, Hudi Alfa, Hadi Marsono, Ugy Sugiarto, I Dewa Ngakan Made Ardana, Riki Antoni and Hendra ‘Blankon’ Priyadhani.

Singaporean artists represented in the auction include Lee Choon Kee, Seah Kim Joo, and Wan Soon Kam.

There are also paintings by artists from the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand in the sale.

Preview of all the artworks will be held at The Edge Galerie in Mont’ Kiara from Feb 23-March 3 from 11am-7pm and on March 4 from 11am-3pm. The gallery is closed on Mondays.
